NAMRIA begins its observance of 2021 Women's Month
Gender and Development | Annrou R. Ramos | 8 March 2021 | Print

In its commitment to uphold women's rights in the workplace, NAMRIA joins the country in celebrating this year's Women's Month.  The recurring theme We Make Change Work for Women covers five (5) years from 2017 to 2022, and highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development.  The Philippine Commission on Women's (PCW) campaign this year, Juana Laban sa Pandemya: Kaya! focuses on the challenges and opportunities for women battling the COVID-19 pandemic.  The campaign also discusses the gender issues exacerbated by the pandemic, and the services made available by the government to address these concerns.

NAMRIA also adopts DENR’s theme Women Can Make Change Amidst Climate Crisis and COVID-19, with the aim of putting women at the forefront of climate and disaster actions, and pushes for their equal and active participation in issues concerning the environment, climate change, disaster risk reduction, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The kickoff was held on 01 March 2021, with the use of the Lupang Hinirang video with an all-women cast.  The video will be used in the virtual flag ceremony of NAMRIA for all Mondays of GAD Month.  RDAB OIC-Director and NAMRIA Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Chair Ofelia T. Castro reported on the lineup of activities for March.  These include NAMRIA’s participation in PCW’s online forum series (Juana, Nangunguna laban sa Pandemya and Kumusta ka, Juana?) and the agency’s webinars (Achieving Work-Life Balance during the Pandemic and Women Inspiring Other Women Career Talk), NAMRIA Gender and Development (GAD) Strategic Planning, GAD Information System (GADIS) user’s training, Bida si Juana/Juan sa Panahon ng Corona photo contest, GAD exhibit, film showing, and Juana Zumba laban sa Pandemya.  The NAMRIA GFPS will also be distributing information, education, and communication materials and collaterals on women empowerment, gender equity, and mental health to all employees and clients.
