NAMRIA celebrated its 35th Founding Anniversary with the theme, “NAMRIA@35: Empowering the Nation through Geospatial Information” last 01 July 2022. The event highlighted NAMRIA’s role as a provider of accurate, timely, and relevant geospatial information to the public. The celebration also focused on NAMRIA’s milestones as the country’s central mapping agency, and the strategic directions it will take in the coming years. In continuous adherence with the health and safety protocols of the COVID-19 Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), the activities were held both in-person and online.

The Hydrography Branch (HB) facilitated the virtual programme as this year’s branch host. The activities were divided into two parts and were streamed using web conferencing platforms. A mass offering officiated by FR. (CPT) Marjeo L. Delfin CHS from the Chaplain Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines comprised the first part of the programme. The second part included messages from the Chair of the NAMRIA 35th Anniversary Virtual Celebration Organizing Committee and HB OIC-Director Antonio G. Valenzuela, Jr. and NAMRIA Administrator, Usec. Peter N. Tiangco, PhD.

Nevertheless, this period provides for an exciting journey for all of us,” he further added as NAMRIA continues to implement its priority programs and projects.

The messages were followed by an entertainment number from the host branch and an inter-branch contest dubbed as “Family Feud: NAMRIA Family to Family (F2F)”. The Mapping and Geodesy Branch (MGB) emerged as the winner of the contest. Raffle draws were also conducted in between said activities.
