The fun run was organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in partnership with Maynilad and the MVP Group as part of the annual celebration of Earth Day 2024. The event aimed to raise awareness of the fight against plastic pollution, promote sustainable practices, and amplify DENR's advocacy for everyone to take action toward a cleaner, plastic-free, and healthier planet. The Earth Day theme, Planet vs. Plastics, emphasized the need for collective action to repair and heal the planet's ecosystems, combat climate change, and preserve biodiversity.

More than 600 runners from DENR and its attached agencies joined the event. The fun run served as a meaningful way to kick off the Earth Month activities planned by DENR from 21-30 April 2024. Various activities, such as educational workshops, advocacy campaigns, and an Earth Day Concert, were lined up to further engage the communities and stakeholders in environmental protection efforts.
